Thundersport GB has been organising motorcycle events since 2008, their portfolio includes; the British Moto GP, European round of World Superbikes and the Moto-Cross de Nations at Donington Park. Later this year they will run the first ever FIM World Championship Indoor Super Enduro at the Liverpool Echo Arena.

They enjoy an enormous level of support from both sponsors and riders that has made us the largest and most prolific organiser of ACU Road Race events and 2013 will be their busiest season yet

There are lots of Midlands based riders racing at Donington Park this weekend, watch out for;

Local man Sam Nicholson moves into Golden Era with his R6 having finished 2nd in his class in Mini-Twins last season, racing for almost 30 years with his foundations originally in the blue smoke of two strokes Sam has raced in Europe with the ICGP circus. Wife, Mel, and son, Charlie, try and help him out at most
rounds and are always supportive….they really love the racing too. In Round 1, at Brands, Sam was quality on his R6 in class posting a second, third and a brace of fourths after qualifying in fifth. Obviously comfortable on the podium; will Donington see him take the top step?

Market Rasen’s Phil Crowe is back for more action on his BMW in a packed season that includes Thurdersport GB as well as excursions back into Road Racing which was tasted for the first time last year at the North West 200. As a spectator at the Macau GP a few months ago, can we expect to see him mixing short circuit stuff with some of the big International events? In the opening round a couple of weeks ago Phil tasted a win plus a third and fourth so the hard riding man is always going to be there or there abouts and only podiums will do.

Derby’s Rob Mawbey has an illustrious background in two stroke racing, being well know for exploits on 125 and 250 ‘stink wheels’ as well as Boss Man at Racing Lines notorious for helping out lots of other riders. Rob has been thrashing around on Honda 500 twins for a couple of seasons now, having run bikes for himself and a team mate. He got off to a cracking start at Brands which saw him almost fastest in qualifying and to continue the theme by posting no less than three firsts in class with a shameful fourth. Hopes for his local track are to stay on the podium with an eye to bagging maximum points where possible.

Nick Matthews has moved over from endurance racing to campaign his impeccably prepared 600 Yamaha in the Pre National division. After qualifying in seventh in what is a large and highly pressured class Nick had to be content to head back up to Market Harborough with a 13th, 10th and an 8th. All to go for then at Donington, Nick is quite capable of running at the front so a top six finish is not off the cards for this amiable player.

We wanted to introduce you to Army man Luke Harrison but all we can say at the moment is that we hope he has a better weekend at Donington Park than a somewhat difficult time at Brands Hatch.
