We have had to change his cast every week and the e-collars/cones are just far too stressful for him. This really goes over the top half the cast and is quite snug. I bought a md and a lrg and I started with the large to get him used to it and we’ll size down so it’s more snug around the cast and he can’t wiggle around in it as much. He does manage to get his front legs out every so often but as long as he’s not pulling the cast of I’m happy. It was probably a 40 minute adjustment period. He was quite upset at first but I just kept showing love. Trying to get him to sit up was the first half because he was having a difficult time and kept just rolling around it is quite foreign if your cat never wears clothes but for us it’s really important that he has the freedom. The cone is just not effective and far more stressful than it’s worth. I also paired some calming cat treats to get him through this process. Once he started sitting up he eventually started walking the perimeter of the large travel cat crate I own and that’s when I decided it was time to try and let him take his time coming out. It took almost an hour and a lot of love to keep him calm. I did have to hold him by his scruff to get him in it, and I was able to get him in it by myself. He’s a very sassy cat when he wants to be but very loving as well. All in all this was well worth it in the end, yes there might be an ugly side depending on your cat and if you have additional hands to help, but I couldn’t find anything for cats with broken legs and I am hoping this will help in the long run. He is still able to use the bathroom without soiling himself as well which is important to me.Edit/Update : after a few weeks wearing it I have to say it’s been a great item for isolating my little guy for his own benefit without having to crate him. He did however become a bit depressed after consistent wearing, I would suggest a scheduled wearing period if that’s something you can work around. It also limited his mobility which for the purpose of a broken limb I wasn’t unhappy with. It really stopped him from jumping everywhere he couldn’t get the jump.
