- I was happy to find a fairly reasonably-priced pair of scissors that would pretty easily cut thick toenails. I was never very successfully able to use the clipper kind of nail cutters. I much prefer scissors, and have been more successful using them over the clippers. These are strong enough to stand up to the job of cutting toenails that have gotten thicker with age. So far, I have been very pleased with them, as they’re easy to use and sturdy enough to do the job.
